In 1950, Hank Williams was a regular on country radio. Now, nearly 65 years later, recordings from the four shows he did on KSIB radio in Creston, Iowa in February 1950 have surfaced and will be released on May 20, 2014.
The Garden Spot Programs, 1950 has been put together by Omnivore Recordings (pre-order) with the full blessing of Hank's daughter, Jett. She talked about the album in a press release, saying, "It’s incredible to me that we’re still finding new recordings by my dad -- great ones at that. No one even suspected that these recordings existed. We partnered with Omnivore Recordings for this release, and I especially love that they’re taking my dad back to vinyl."
The Garden Spot Programs, 1950 includes some of Hank's hit songs, standards from the 50s and rarely performed music. Available on CD and vinyl, the album package also contains rare photos and liner notes from Hank’s biographer Colin Escott.
