Jack White, the modern-day Willy Wonka of music, recorded The World's Fastest Released Record as promised on Record Store Day. The title track off his upcoming solo album, "Lazaretto" was recorded live, mastered, pressed and sold in in just three hours and 21 minutes at White's Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville.
Al Ford, program director of the Edmonton radio station Sonic 102.9, made the trek to White's event and recounts his experience in a segment on YouTube.
Following the instrumental "High Ball Stepper," "Lazaretto" is a gritty '70s-funk-meets-bluegrass-meets-blues-rock track. The full studio version is expected to drop tomorrow (April 22).
Lazaretto, White's second solo album and follow-up to 2012's Blunderbuss, is due out June 10 via Third Man Records. In support of the album, White recently announced 2014 tour dates, which kick off in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and goes through early August with stops at Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Forecastle and Osheaga along the way.
