It's been 13 long years since Long Island post hard-core band, Glassjaw, has dropped a full-length LP but during that time span, they managed to release three EPs, undergo lineup changes, take a hiatus, endure issues with their label and even craft another band. Rumors circulating about a new record have been around for quite some time but now, it looks like fans can finally expect a full length album in 2016. On Tuesday, Glassjaw dropped a new track, "New White Extremity," which all fans can agree was a long-time coming.
The New York outfit first came on the scene with their impressive debut in 2000, Everything You Wanted to Know About Silence. Following up 2002's Worship and Tribute, "New White Extremity" will be featured on the group's impending third studio album. The El Mark EP saw release in 2005 with a six year gap before 2011's pair of EPs, Our Color Green (The Singles) and Coloring Book.
"This is a song about walking out of your front door," front man and Head Automatica singer Daryl Palumbo told NPR. "Thanks for the [patience] and we hope you enjoy."
According to Entertainment Weekly, the track comes after the announcement of a spring tour with Coheed and Cambria, who have recently released new music themselves. Straying from their ongoing science fiction story, "The Armory Wars," Coheed and Cambria decided to work in another direction with their most recent studio album, The Color Before the Sun.
"I kind of want people to know that Coheed can write that sort of record," frontman Claudio Sanchez said in reference to the new direction, Kerrang! notes. "I've always said in the past that there's never been a limitation on the band. It makes no sense to me to draw a line in the sand and never cross it."
