Apparently a feud has been brewing between two sexy actors and it might have cost one of them a major movie deal. On Monday (Nov. 30), English actor Alex Pettyfer had a chat with controversial best-selling author, Bret Easton Ellis, during a podcast taping and things got real! Pettyfer revealed his Magic Mike co-star Channing Tatum doesn't like him due to some issues in the past involving an overdue debt.
Pettyfer stopped by to clear up some rumors regarding his current relationship with the Foxcatcher star. He went on to explain how he earned a bad reputation in Hollywood and why it can get extremely complicated to separate your personal life from your professional life.
Nasty rumors began circulating in the media, accusing the 25-year-old actor of burning his house down, having a bad temper, and having an outburst on set due to unfair pay. In February 2011, an electrical fire broke out in his home. Pettyfer became the center of speculation, when the media targeted him as the culprit of the fire, based on a bad breakup with former Glee star Diana Agron.
While the Endless Love star says the rumors hold no validity, he admitted the gossip allegeding he clashed with Tatum on set is true. "Channing Tatum does not like me," Pettyfer told Bret Easton Ellis. "For many reasons. Many being my own fault."
Tatum was hesitant about Pettyfer joining the cast of Magic Mike, because he had already built a negative reputation in Hollywood. Although he viewed it as a "business risk," Tatum didn't speak up about his feelings towards Pettyfer. He was later cast in the film as Adam.
After production for the film ended, Pettyfer rented an apartment in New York, which happened to be owned by Tatum's friend. According to the podcast, he abruptly left, complaining of terrible mold and dust allergies making it difficult for him to breathe.
Pettyfer evacuated the premises without paying the mandatory rent (four months' worth). Shortly after leaving, he suffered through an unexpected death in his family, which caused him to lose track of his obligations. That's when he received a threatening message from Tatum.
"I all of a sudden got a very negative email from Channing, rightfully so, saying, 'Don't f*** my friends. You owe money. Pay the f***ing money. Don't be a clown.'"
Pettyfer was reportedly "hounded" constantly for the money while he was grieving the death of his cousin, which only made matters worse. He ultimately decided not to pay the rent.
Could this ugly disagreement be the reason he wasn't asked to return for the box-office hit sequel, Magic Mike XXL?
