Chris Brown's trial has been put on hold after prosecutors declined to grant immunity to Brown's bodyguard, who would be a key witness in the case, Billboard reports.
The trial was originally scheduled for today with Christopher Hollosy, Brown's bodyguard, expected to testify and admit that he, not Brown, was responsible for the assault. Hollosy was tried separately and convicted of assault but will appeal the case.
Hollosy's lawyers say he won't testify until his appeal is finished unless they grant him immunity. Prosecutors told a judge that they wouldn't grant immunity because of Hollosy's refusal to meet with them and discuss his testimony following his conviction. They also don't believe that Hollosy alone threw the punch, making his likely testimony a lie.
No new trial date has been set for Brown, but it could be least six months from now.
