Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi to score WGN show about The Manhattan Project

Following his appearance on Game of Thrones, Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi will continue his career in television. According to Billboard, the Icelandic singer has partnered with Alex Somers to score the upcoming WGN show Manhattan.

The show takes place in the 1940s, during the race to build the first atomic bombs at the Los Alamos labs in New Mexico, a effort known as The Manhattan Project. It is described as following "the brilliant but flawed scientists and their families as they attempt to co-exist in a world where secrets and lies infiltrate every aspect of their lives."

Sam Shaw (Showtime's Masters of Sex) is executive producing the project with director Thomas Schlamme (West Wing). It stars John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C), Olivia Williams (An Education) and Daniel Stern (Home Alone).

This is Jónsi's first venture into scoring for television having previously scored the 2011 film We Bought a Zoo, which Somers co-produced.
