If you don't know who Kehlani is by now, then you have been living under a rock. The 20-year-old R&B songstress has officially captured all of our hearts with her most recent album release, You Should Be Here. And now that she has our attention, Kehlani has released a new single, "Tore Up." The track, produced by Jahaan Sweet, features Kehlani softly singing about self medicating after a bad breakup. She sings, "But I still pop one to feel a little better / About looking in the mirror / I still pour up to make it all easier / I still light up to get a little higher / To get out of my feelings / I'm still tore up, and I don't want to hold it on you."
Listen to the track below and let us know what you think!
Hopefully this is the first of many more tracks to come from Kehlani. The singer has been keeping busy with appearances on G-Eazy's "Everything Will Be Okay" and Pusha T's upcoming album, King Push: Darkest Before Dawn, so there won't be much of a drought when it comes to her. Not to mention her album, You Should Be Here, received tremendously great reviews from multiple outlets. She even peaked at number 36 on the Billboard 200 charts. If that wasn't enough proof that Kehlani is a must on your playlist, her album has just been nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. The award show will be taking place in February 2016 so make sure to tune in and cross your fingers for Kehlani.
Kehlani has also been touring in the U.S. and is currently overseas touring. She has performed in Sweden, Germany, France, Amsterdam and will be performing in London before she comes back to the states. Once back in the states, Kehlani will be performing in her hometown of Oakland for a two night Tsunami Christmas special and then one night in Santa Ana. Hopefully she comes back around our way so we can catch her new track in person!
