Steph Curry's Wife Ayesha Starts Black Twitter War With Fashion Comments; Celebrities Respond

Conversations surrounding women's attire and what's "socially acceptable," are bound to spark some opposing views. That's just what happened when Ayesha Curry spoke her mind on Saturday (Dec. 5). The wife of Golden State Warriors star, Steph Curry, accidentally started a Black Twitter war when she voiced her opinion about the latest fashion trends, citing her distaste for the popular "barely wearing clothes" look. Not only did fans weigh in on her statements, but a few celebrities also chimed in.

So how did the 26-year-old Toronto native ruffle so many feathers? What started off as a simple reflection of what she viewed in a weekly style magazine, soon turned in to a heated discussion of what's appropriate for women to wear.

Picking "class" over today's latest fashion trends, Ayesha kicked off the conversation with the following comment: "Everyone's into barely wearing clothes these days huh? Not my style," Ayesha tweeted to over 200,000 followers. "I like to keep the good stuff covered up for the one who matters."

The responses, which came from predominantly female followers, varied. Some took offense to her comments, believing Ayesha insinuated women who choose to show more skin are less classy than those who choose to cover up.

While others agreed with her statements and used the opportunity to bash women who like wearing revealing clothing.

As anyone familiar with the popular social media outlet will tell you, Twitter is an open forum for users to voice their opinion on any topic that comes to mind. Lines can quickly get blurred between exercising your first amendment right and just being rude.

Despite the heated exchange her comments inspired, the mother of two did not intend to provoke negativity or shame women in any way. Ayesha stepped away from the conversation by revealing outside judgements on her personal do no affect her.

She also assured the public her tweets were not an invitation to degrade women or belittle them for their decision to wear particular items of clothing.

Moral of the story? Wear what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. The most important opinion you'll ever receive is the one you have about yourself.
