Marilyn Manson's new track featured on opening title sequence for WGN's 'Salem' [WATCH]

Marilyn Manson and composer Tyler Bates have written a new opening main title sequence for WGN America's show Salem, Billboard reports. The new title sequence is set to premiere in the second episode, which airs April 27.

The clip features 47 seconds of "Cupid Carries a Gun," which will be featured on Manson's next album.

"The occult and witchcraft is so often used in cinema with a heinous disregard for even researching its origins," Manson told Billboard. "I liked the themes of 'Salem.' It looks at the witch trials without being cliché like most modern films."

As Billboard notes, the two men wrote a draft of the song when Bates began composing for the show.

"I saw the title sequence and the song immediately came to mind," Bates says. "I showed it to Manson for fun more than anything, and it inspired us to finish the song that night."

Salem airs on WGN Sundays at 10 p.m. EST. It's premiere last week broke the record for the best telecast performance on WGN America in more than seven years with 2.3 million viewers tuning in.
