Daye Jack, Killer Mike Tackle Police Brutality in New Song 'Hands Up' [LISTEN]

Daye Jack isn't your typical rapper. He is an 19-year-old, NYU student, taking classes in programming that took a chance on his music. Hailing from Atlanta, the Nigerian-born artist, left behind his comfy environment and his soccer dreams to come to NYC and build his music career. Now after releasing quite a few hits, Jack is back at it with his newest track, "Hands Up," and it features the legendary Killer Mike.

"Hands Up" is about police brutality and the struggles that people face everyday with it. Jack raps, "Livin' with my head down, hands up / No, no, don't shoot." Killer Mike joins in as he raps, "Maybe the kid that you refer to as a thug is just somebody else's baby," The song has a powerful message behind it and is the perfect example of expressing real life concerns without using violence.

The young artist is on the right path with his music career. Jack came out swinging when he dropped his first mixtape, Hello World, in 2014. He followed up with his album, Soul Glitch this past June. The album was a strong project and it contained a great mixture of Jack's raps and singing. Not too long after he dropped his romantic track, "Rule the World," which featured production by Kiko of Brockhampton. The single featured Jack rapping about falling in love and finding the perfect girl to rule the world with.
