Southern California's early 1990s pop-punk legends, Unwritten Law, have reemerged and announced their signing to El Hefe of NOFX's label Cyber Tracks, promising a new album in 2016.
The new acoustic album will serve as the band's first new material since 2011's Swan, and according to a press release, frontman Scott Russo has been working on the album for the past two years. "I've been done with this acoustic record for a year and was looking for the right home, with the right spirit to put it out," he says. "I've found my/our home and people. I can't wait for you all to see exactly what the f**k I've been up to. UL and Cyber Tracks have something I honestly believe is different, special and definitely unexpected. Love from the Law."
El Hefe, who runs the label with his wife Jen Abeyta, also commented via the press release on the new signing, stating, "I'm very excited to release this new album with Unwritten Law. I've always respected Scotty as a singer, and I have to say this is the best I've heard him sing. He sounds hungry."
The new announcement comes on the heels of the band's recent announcement of a 25-day Spring U.S. tour with Fenix Tx, which will kick off in March of 2016. Tickets for all future shows are now available via Ticketmaster. Unwritten Law are currently on tour in Australia as part of their Love Is The Law tour. The tour will cover March and April here in the U.S. with stops in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ohio, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah and Nevada.
Listen to one of their best tracks, the U.S. Modern Rock Chart top 5 fiery hit "Save Me (Wake Up Call)" off of their 2005 fifth studio album Here's to the Morning. It was one of two of their singles that entered the top 5, the first of which was "Seein' Red" off of their 2002 album, Elva, which achieved global success. Since then, the band has sold over 2 million copies of their records.
