Adele’s mega hit “Hello” has just been remixed with a New Orleans twist. Bounce artist Big Choo and singer Denisia made the chart topper their own with some assistance from producer DJ Blaza.
Just under a month after sharing the video for their remix, the clip has garnered over 155,000 views on YouTube.
Although Adele’s “Hello” has been linked to numerous memes of listeners contemplating on getting back together with a previous fling, Denisia took on the track with different intentions and a new meaning.
“We took the meaning and changed it. It’s more exciting. We don’t want people to be sad. We just want people to dance,” Denisia told WGNO’s Kenny Lopez. “It’s a break-up song, but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Listening to Adele’s words, which are beautiful, we just sped up the song with bounce music.”
Adele’s version of “Hello” currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth straight week. Contributing factors to the song’s success include the fact that the single sold the most (233,000 copies), was streamed the most (27.5 million plays) and was the most-heard song on radio (166 million audience impressions).
The sing also reigns supreme on the Billboard 200 for the second consecutive week. Adele has become the first artist in history to sell over one million copies in two separate weeks.
“Hello” served as the lead single from Adele’s latest album, 25, which broke some records as well. Adele sold 3.38 million copies of 25 in her first week, shattering NSYNC’s previously set record by nearly a million copies.
