BBC's hit crime drama Sherlock from Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat is headed back to the Victorian Era for the 2015 Christmas Special, entitled "The Abominable Bride." This one-off episode is set to hold fans' attention until the highly anticipated announcement of season four episodes and premieres, but it looks like we're all in for one of the biggest adventures of the series with a mix of humor, brains and even horror! As you can gather from the title of the Christmas Special, we're in for a gothic-type horror tale fitting the Victorian setting. Stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson respectfully, but fans will be treated to the original time period of the Arthur Conan Doyle tales.

Though this is the Christmas Special, it will premiere on New Year's Day on PBS' Masterpiece Theatre.
Series co-creator, writer and star Mark Gatiss told Entertainment Weekly that he has started working on season four already. This news accompanied the premiere of the trailer above. Speaking of the rumored return of Moriarty (Andrew Scott), Gatiss revealed a few details regarding the new episodes.
"Well, it's some more adventures. Ha ha!" Gatiss told the magazine, according to UPROXX. "All I can say is, this is a major, life-changing series for the regulars. The repercussions of Moriarty's apparent return are far-reaching. It's very big stuff."
