Justin Bieber has been randomly popping in and out of California bars for impromptu performances, leaving fans eager to see if they''ll cross paths with the "Love Yourself" singer at their favorite spots. On Monday (Dec. 14) night, Bieber took the stage at Marine Room Tavern in Laguna Beach to deliver another rendition of Drake's "Hotline Bling," this time, complete with a live band.
His spontaneous, two-song set brought about a fusion between jazz and reggae for his latest cover of Drake's smash hit and a performance of popularized island-leaning Purpose track, "Sorry." In TMZ-captured video, the Canadian pop star gives thanks to his fans for being "unbelievable" while donning a relaxed look in a grey hoodie. Swapping some of the lyrics for his own croons and adding the element of a live house band, Slingshot, for texture, the remix already has us hooked.
Back in October, the 21-year-old singer remixed and dropped his own spin on "Hotline Bling" on Drake's Beats 1 OVOSoundRadio show. He then hopped on stage in Toronto to play an acoustic set for the intimate gathering, tackling renditions of The Beatles "Let it Be" and his own "Boyfriend" for the An Evening With Justin Bieber event.
Next year, the "What Do You Mean?" musician will play for crowds much larger than those flocking to California night clubs and bars when he launches his Purpose World Tour on March 9.Let's hope he brings his reggae "Hotline Bling" remix to the stage for a number of gigs.
Bieber essentially wowed the crowd with a perfect "karaoke" performance but the singer previously showed off his karaoke skills with Late Late Show host James Corden during "Carpool Karaoke," singing snippets of Kanye West's "Stronger" and Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill hit, "Ironic" along with his own "Never Say Never."
