Due to her strict religious upbringing, it appears that Katy Perry missed a milestone of pre-adolescence, the Harry Potter series. While most would consider this standard reading fare for anyone in her age bracket, the "Dark Horse" singer was not allowed to read about the wizarding world. Perry has always been outspoken about being raised in a strict household, as parents Keith and Mary Hudson are devout Christian ministers.
"I know Harry Potter, but I've never read the books, nor have I seen the movies because growing up, I was not allowed to read the books," Perry told People.
She further said, "Growing up, I wasn't allowed to have any fantastical, enchanting stuff around me. It's funny that now I'm doing a little bit of a magic-potion-themed perfume." The fragrance that Perry is referring to is her new fragrance Mad Potion.
Perry seems to be expanding her brand lately, and has additionally just launched her new mobile game Katy Perry Pop. It is available on iOS and mobile devices and is similar to Glu Mobile's other celebrity game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. The basic premise presents the player as a aspiring pop-star who with Perry's help has the potential to become a famous singer.
Katy Perry Pop is dissimilar from Kim Kardashian: Hollywood for some obvious and some not so obvious reasons. It features a cartoon version of Perry, the Left Shark, a dancing ice cream cone and a twerking tempura shrimp that pop up at concerts and events featured in the game.
