Beyonce breaks Prince and Michael Jackson's records, becomes highest paid black artist

Beyonce is building quite a musical legacy for herself. Mrs. Carter has officially been named the highest paid black artist.

According to BET, Bey has surpassed previous records held by Prince, Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson.

MTV reports that Bey's top-earning status comes from the big bucks made from her tour.

The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour brought in $212 million, 1.8 million ticket sales and 126 concert dates with her fans. Her European leg alone brought in $41 million.

And she is sure to rack up some more dough on her upcoming tour with hubby Jay Z. The two recently announced the stops for their "On The Run" stadium tour.

The 16-city jaunt is slated to kick off in late June and stretch through early August.

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, May 2, with a portion of all ticket sales being donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation.
