Earlier this week, we reported that the Seattle Police Department had released another piece of unseen evidence found in Kurt Cobain's wallet: a partial note which was originally believed to have been written by Cobain about his wedding vows to Courtney Love. Based on the short expert, which calls Love a "b*tch with zits," it appeared that the couple's relationship was even more rocky at the time of Cobain's death than previously thought.
Now the full note has been shared by Grungebook, and it tells a different story. Here it is in full:
"Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife, even when she's a bitch with zits and siphoning all [your] money for doping and whoring. Will you promise to fuck her at least once a week, O.K."
As Consequence of Sound notes, Mark Yam, the author of Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge, believes the letter was actually written by Love herself, who apparently has a dark sense of humor.
Mashable points out that the stationary on which the note was written comes from the Phoenix Hotel, which they describe as a "hip and gritty rocker hideout in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco."
They explain that the last time Nirvana played a show in that area was on New Year's Eve 1993 at the Oakland Coliseum, less than four months before Cobain's death. It could be possible that the note was written during that time as a inside-joke/love letter.
