Although her love life of late has been the topic of discussion, former Love & Hip Hop NY star Erica Mena says the new season is boring without her and explains why she quit the show in the first place. Despite season 6 of LHHNY coming in as the highest premiere for a reality show in 2015 with 4.6 million views reported by IceCreamConvos, Mena berates the show as a flop without her spitfire persona.
Earlier this year, after getting engaged to actor/rapper Bow Wow (Shad Moss), Mena opted to make season 5 of LHHNY her last season after appearing in three seasons. The former reality star even opted out of doing the reunion show with the rest of her cast-mates and did a Q&A with show producer Mona Scott Young alone. According to Bossip, Mena believes that in the last season she played the role of a villain with the show producers portraying a rift with half of the cast-mates such as Rich Dollaz, Cyn Santana and new comer Chrissy.
"Chrissy, Rich, Cyn, they all played this big role in saying f-ing lies about me so that when I said what I said, I came across to America as harsh. What they were portraying wasn't real and they were able to fool the world. I was harsh because it was like 'Now, let me tell you the real deal,'" Mena said. "Chrissy is a woman who came on the show with a made-up accusation just so she could cross paths with me. If you took away the lies about me from her, how many scenes would she have had?"
She goes on to reflect on the new season in the wake of her absence suggesting that the show has become a bore to audiences.
"I wasn't sad to see the show go on without me. If anything it was boring and I think the audience agrees that it's extremely boring without me. This past year I've had time to get my life back in the sense where now my recent [relationship] status has everyone wondering, 'Are they together? Are they not together?' I feel like this relationship isn't on television, so I don't owe the world an answer but it just proves that people are interested in my life," she said.
However, in spite of Mena's many opinions on the show, with new acquisitions such as Papoose, Remy Ma and Cardi B, some would go as far as suggesting that Mena may be regretful of leaving the show after messy public breakup with ex fiance, Bow Wow.
Is she right? Does America miss Mena gracing the small screen after all?
