Rock legends Cheap Trick, who were recently nominated as inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2016, have released a brand new power ballad titled "No Direction Home" for free download.
The song, which possesses every quality that launched the band into stardom, is the first single off their upcoming new album Bang Zoom Crazy... Hello. Guitarist Rick Nielsen's signature power riffs and Robin Zander's unique vocals proclaim that the Rockford, Illinois outfit still has the same drive that they came out of the gate with on their 1977 self-titled debut album.
The new song is available for instant free download via Tailored News with just an email address, to serve as a celebration of their Rock Hall induction and recent signing with Big Machine Label Group, who will put out their 17th overall studio album and first since 2009's The Latest, on Apr. 1.
Only a week after the album's release, the band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the ceremony which will take place at Brooklyn's Barclays Arena. Other artists including N.W.A, Chicago, Steve Miller and Deep Purple will be joining the band, however, The Smiths - who were assumed candidates - did not make the cut this year.
Speaking on the nomination, Nielsen recently stated: "Usually I'm a man of many words, but this has got me in a tizzy here. I'm verklempt. I don't know what to say. It's very exciting." He then elaborated on his thoughts on the magnitude of the achievement, adding: "Live at Budokan wasn't too bad. Getting our first record wasn't too bad. Doing 5,000 shows, not too bad. Having Thanksgiving dinner with Dave Clark, not too bad. Talking to you, not bad. It's all good. This might get moved right to the top of our résumé, though. We won't write this at the bottom."
