LOUDPVCK and 12th Planet have teamed up to spread some bass-driven holiday cheer with a new Christmas-themed music video for their recent collaboration "Guess Who." The hybrid trap track features vocals from Atlanta-based rapper KEY! and at the time of production marked the start of the 12PVCK tag team sessions.
The video reveals a more risque side of Christmas. As the track crescendos through diverse EDM landscapes featuring festival-style synths and driving 808s, Santa Claus himself is having a field day opening--or unzipping and unbuttoning--presents in the form of myriad layers of pants.
The darker side of Saint Nick is illuminated about one minute into the video when a glass of milk is spilled rather suggestively. As the video progresses, however, the creep factor gives way to hilarity when a golden-gloved elf and a reindeer help Santa continue to undo layers upon layers of pants. Together they pull garland and strings of lights from some layers and occasionally spill wine, cookies and trail mix all over.
The track itself, as EDM Sauce points out, is a perfect combination of the collaborators' styles. The video takes the collaboration to the next level, demonstrating an absurd sense of humor shared by the producers and rapper. Watch "Guess Who" below.
"We wanted to make a song that would start off our 12PVCK tag team sessions with high energy, so we made this track," 12th Planet told Complex of the collaboration when the magazine premiered the track's audio-only version earlier this month. "Now it's a must play in every festival bass music set going into 2016."
"We have wanted to collaborate with John for years, and we were about to go on tour together, so the timing was perfect," Complex reports that LOUDPVCK added. "We had the drop finished in about four hours, tweaked a few more things that week, and were playing it out by the time we left for tour. It's a really accurate amalgamation of our two styles and we're very excited for everyone else to hear it."
Both LOUDPVCK and 12th Planet are touring separately in the upcoming weeks and months. As of now there's no word about any further collaborations between the artists, but there is no telling what 2016 will bring.
