Madonna's Rebel Heart Tour leads the hot tours for 2015 and has already made $80 million in sales. Her last tour, the MDNA tour, which spanned 88 dates, made $305 million back in 2012. She has even beat out U2's Innocence + Experience Tour for the top slot of the year.
The revenue is partially being tallied through two dates in Paris on Dec. 9 and 10 as reported by Billboard. The sales from shows in Zurich and British stops Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow have yet to be tallied. The European portion of her tour ended on Dec. 20 in Glasgow and it is set to start up again on Jan. 6 in Mexico City.
After the Mexico City date, the tour will continue on to Puero Rico, countries in Asia, New Zealand, and the first shows that she has played in Australia in upwards of 20 years. It will round out on Mar. 20 in Sydney, Australia.
While the European portion grossed an enormous amount, there was one disastrous stop during a show at the Manchester Arena, where fans booed Madonna for being over 50 minutes late to her scheduled performance. The failed show on the night of (Dec. 14) was blamed on technical difficulties, but fans were not pleased, many taking to social media to release a series of angry tweets about the incident.
Madonna posted a statement to Facebook after the incident that read, "FACTS: It's good to have them before you jump to conclusions! The entire video for my show crashed as I arrived for sound check. The back-up file was corrupt. We had no choice but to reboot and pray for a good outcome. We can't play in the dark. We were rebooted and ready at 9:30 even though we planned to go on earlier."
The singer also stated that "We can't play in the dark," and that she "had to make cuts in show before the show started."
