For the second time this year, Kanye West has made a surprise pop-up on American Idol. He surprised the judges with an impromptu performance featuring him as a contestant. This past Tuesday (Dec. 22) his wife Kim Kardashian revealed his audition on her Twitter account and the full performance will broadcast on the show in January.
In the video posted to Kardashian's account, West begins his audition with, "My name is Kanye. I'm from the south side of Chicago. I'm originally a producer. I always wanted to rap and no one really believed in me, so I wanted to try some things out, ya know?"
According to NME, Kanye reportedly performed an acapella version of his smash hit "Gold Digger," but it remains to be seen whether West will make it to the next round.
West is infamous for once referring to himself as a god, and even has a song about the same topic. There is even a site called Green Label which advises fans how to live like West in six simple steps in a so-called "holy book" of Yeezy. The site wrote, "Preserving a dream requires a safe house within your mind, a place to tap into for unlimited confidence. Kanye has made this special place his permanent residence. That's why his discography is the holy book of self-esteem."
The six-step program tells followers to 1.) Adopt Kanye as your teacher. 2.) Accept that you can not please everyone. 3.) Develop arrogance. 4.) Take responsibility. 5.) Ignore statistics. 6.) Ask for a raise.
