Kendrick Lamar Preaches Value Of Hard Work In New Video

Kendrick Lamar has had the biggest year of his career, releasing the consensus number one album of the year in To Pimp A Butterfly. Now in a new video he is using his newfound status as an icon and idol to many in his community to preach the value of hard work.

The minute and 30 seconds long video released by his label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), shows K.Dot mentoring a young boy about the values of hard work and what it can do for a person. They start out on a basketball court going one-on-one in a seemingly unfair matchup, but Kendrick uses the moment to teach the kid about the value of working hard to get better.

They then go for a walk and Kendrick is stopped by two female fans who loooove his music and ask to take a selfie. Taking note that the little boy is jealous that K.Dot seems to get all of the girls, Kendrick says that this came from hard work and nothing else.

They then head into an ice cream shop where an older man recognizes the rapper and agrees to pay for his food because his daughters listen to his music and there is some jazz on the album. There is only one snack between them, which Kendrick takes because.... You guessed it, hard work, which Kendrick put in, not the little kid.

The video is a heartwarming message from Lamar and his team to instill in youth who may be stuck in a rough situation. Watch the short clip below.
