On Christmas Eve, Jacket Jackson took to Instagram to announce some unexpected news. According to her account, Jackson’s upcoming dates for her Unbreakable tour have been postponed. She also revealed that she must undergo surgery.
“I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring,” she captioned a photo.
While she did not specify what type of surgery or why, she did confirm that each date would be rescheduled and previously purchased tickets will be honored.
“Every date will be rescheduled. Please hold on to your tickets. They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced.”
Jackson also asked fans for prayers and asserted that she would not comment further on the matter.
Earlier this fall, the “No Sleeep” singer was ordered to undergo vocal rest and subsequently forced to cancel dates in Denver, Salt Lake City, St. Louis and Kansas City. In November, she announced the new dates.
Jackson’s tour is in support of her eleventh studio effort, Unbreakable. Following its October release, the LP became her seventh No. 1 album.
The album received positive reviews with the New York Times noting her influence on current pop sensations.
"Wisps of her slow-burning desire can be heard in the music of the Weeknd, Ciara, Tinashe and Jhené Aiko, among others. But “Unbreakable” reinforces that these disciples have not trumped the master."
The first leg of the tour kicked off in Vancouver this past August, and was slated to resume January 9 and continue through June. Check back with us for more updates.
