Shy Glizzy has been making stops in various cities, promoting his For Trappers Only mixtape with Zaytoven. He recently made an appearance in Memphis and got into an altercation with some local rappers. During the scuffle, Glizzy’s chain was snatched. After remaining quiet for several days, the Washington D.C. rapper tweeted about the incident.
Since word, and video footage, of the chain snatching made its way to the Internet, social media has been on fire with opinions. On Thursday (Dec. 24), Glizzy decided to share his side of the story while issuing a warning to the thieves.
"I slip'd up and got comfortable but that come from tha amount of love I show other n*ggaz. never again," he tweeted. “N*ggaz got tha chain off tha floor. that ain't no robbery, that's a hoe move."
He concluded his series of tweets with, "For every action, there's a reaction.. chain-reaction!"
On Sunday (Dec. 20), Memphis rapper Big Mota shared a since deleted clip on Instagram explaining why he took Glizzy's chain. According to Mota, the “Funeral” rapper declined to collaborate on a song.
Aside from the recent incident, the Glizzy Gang head honcho has had a pretty productive year. This summer it was revealed that he was featured among the 2015 XXL Freshman class list.
He spoke on the significance of being featured on the list saying, "It was important for me [to be a Freshman] because I've been grinding on my own and I've been grinding hard, and it's just nice to see my work get noticed and appreciated. It was amazing. I know I had a great year myself, so just to be rewarded for that is great."
Glizzy's latest mixtape, For Trappers Only, was released in September. The project features guest spots from Ty Dolla $ign, Boosie Badazz, Yo Gotti, Sauce Walka, and more.
