After surviving a gunshot wound to the head, Chicago rapper King Louie sent out a few tweets to his supportive fans and shared a hospital photo with Minister Louis Farrakhan.
He first responded to fellow Chicagoan and collaborator Kanye West, who sent his best wishes to King Louie and his family.
The rapper, also known as King L, followed up on Instagram with a photo of himself and Farrakhan.
“I wanna send thanks to everyone for their prayers & support! A special thank you to The Honorable Minister Farrakhan for the blessings & prayers.”
In a subsequent post, King Louie wished his fans and followers a Merry Christmas.
“MERRY XMAS 2 ALL .... ALL I WANT 4 XMAS IS 4 EVERYBODY 2 KEEP ME N THEIR PRAYERS .....IM STAYING STRONG 4 MY FAMILY & THOSE WHO R PRAYING 4 ME .....THANK U ALL,” he wrote.
As previously reported, the “Drilluminati” rapper was shot in the head this past Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 23) while riding through the Ashburn neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side.
According to the police department, Louie was brought to the Advocate Christ Medical Center in the Oak Lawn neighborhood, where his condition remains stabilized. Prior to jumping on social media, his representation said that he is "awake and talking," as well as being responsive to treatment.
In addition to being featured on West’s Yeezus album song “Send It Up,” Louie is a Grammy-nominated writer for the track “New Slaves.” He has also been credited with coining the terms “Chiraq” and “Drillinois,” which refers to the "Drill" hip-hop genre performed by rappers including Chief Keef, Lil Reese, Lil Durk and G Herbo.
It appears that King Louie is in good health and spirits. Check back with us for more updates.
