Wiz Khalifa has revealed his new project, "Project Khalifa," in a Christmas message delivered to fans in a video on Dec. 26. The video, posted to Youtube, was entitled "Wiz Sends a Message to his Taylors." The project is reportedly slated to be available as an as yet undisclosed date next month and his next album will be entitled Rolling Papers 2.
"I plan on putting out a project with some unreleased music that nobody's ever heard before and I'm going to call it 'Project Khalifa' and that's actually going to be available in January," Khalifa said in the video to fans. He additionally said that he is gearing up to release a follow-up to his third studio album, Rolling Papers, which was released in 2011.
It was a slow year music-wise for Khalifa but in the ending months, he had a series of releases to wrap up 2015, as well as a European tour this past October. While on tour, Khalifa released two new songs on Soundcloud that were entitled "Outsiders" and "Just Because." He also released Cabin Fever 3, a follow-up to Cabin Fever 2 released in 2012. Cabin Fever 3 featured Juicy J and Curren$y, who are involved with his Taylor Gang.
According to NME, Khalifa has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his work with Sam Smith on new song "See You Again," which is part of the Furious 7 soundtrack.
This is not the first time that Khalifa has mentioned new projects and in late November, he also revealed that Rolling Papers 2 will be available in 2016. In an interview with Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk on L.A.'s Power 106, Khalifa debunked the rumors that the album was scheduled for release in 2015.
"It's coming out next year, not this year," he said. "A lot of people think I'm gonna drop it this year but I'm not, I'm gonna drop it next year," he said to the radio hosts in the interview.
