PVRIS lead singer Lyndsey "Lynn Gunn" Gunnulfsen has shared the meaning behind one of the band's hit songs, "Holy," during a revealing new interview.
According to Alternative Press, the interview, which appears in Kerrang!'s Kerristmas Khaos All-Star print issue, allows the singer a venue to express the lyrical meaning behind the iconic track, which appears on the band's 2014 debut album, White Noise, out now via Rise/Velocity Records.
“It’s about religious hypocrisy, yes. It’s about someone who was a friend of mine. She was like, ‘You’re going to hell, you’re sinners’ [because a friend and I were gay]. I was like, ‘But you aren’t perfect either, you’re self-absorbed, and you’re calling out flaws but not working on yourself.’ She was always contradicting what she said. I got fed up with that and wrote about it. But you can take it into any situation,” Gunn stated. “It’s mostly about practicing what you preach and holding true to your way.”
The post-hardcore synth-pop trio who were originally named Paris (still pronounced that way) will head to Japan early next year to tour in support of the album, before heading to the U.S. in February, with the North American leg of their tour kicking off on Feb. 26 in Hollywood, Florida.
Although there hasn't yet been any word on a followup album, the Massachusetts-based outfit is surely due to pen a new album in the wake of their current worldwide stadium-sized success. You can stay up-to-date with the band, including all currently scheduled tour dates, via their official website.
