'Interstellar' Tops Most Pirated Movies of 2015 - More Films Make Download List

As you can see in the headline of this article, the most torrented movie of 2015 wasn't actually released this year. Director Christopher Nolan's ode to sci-fi filmmaking, Interstellar, starring Matthew McConaughey and more, is the most illegally downloaded film of the last year, despite having a release date in the fourth quarter of 2014. What other movies made the list this year? Check out the top ten most downloaded movies of the year below.

Considering Interstellar's November 7, 2014, release date, the film had the full year to rack up close to 47 million illegal downloads in 2015. As Variety points out, last year's top pirated film, The Wolf of Wall Street, was also from the previous year, so this might not come as a huge surprise-though the difference in downloads is pretty jarring.

The number-one pirated film of 2014 totaled around 30 million downloads, which is almost 17 million less than the top film this year. Looking at this year's list, the most pirated movie of 2014 wouldn't even break the top ten in 2015!

Some of the other titles on this year's list are even more impressive considering how many pirated versions were downloaded in the time from their releases which dropped well into 2015.
