RAC, Little Boots Unveil 'Magic Hour' After Grammy Nomination

RAC, real name Andrew Allen Anjos, has teamed up with Little Boots to unveil his latest song "Magic Hour." The song caps off a 2015 where the Portuguese born artist nabbed a Grammy nomination in the Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical category for his rework of Odesza's "Say My Name" and launched his monthly singles series over the summer.

"Magic Hour" is an simple, yet elegant synth-pop song from RAC with a slow chugging bass line, strumming guitars and cheery synth lead that matches the high-pitched vocal from Little Boots. Her vocals embody the fun and carefree spirit that comes from a RAC song as she sings in the first verse, "End of the night, start of the morning / With my best friends all around / End of the Gin, start of the Brandy / But our destiny is sound."

RAC explains to Spin the inspiration behind this tune, which ties in with the rest of the series.

"At its core, it's about living life and appreciating the time we have," he continues. "I like to use nostalgic elements that take me back to a specific time in my childhood. It's cool when people share those memories with me, but it's mostly selfish. It's the simplest form of time travel - more powerful than a simple memory."

Listen to "Magic Hour" below and pick up a copy of the single on iTunes. In addition to the new single, Anjos is giving away all five of the songs that he released during his summer as part of the singles series. Fans can download them all here. The series will continue into next year, but there could be a larger project in the works that has emerged from his recent writing.
