You may not know the name Cal Scruby but you are going to want to learn it soon. The up and coming rapper has been making his way into the industry as the first artist with a management deal with Riveting Entertainment. But his deal shouldn't be the main focus. His music should be and he's proving that once again with the new visual for "Ain't Sh*t Change," featuring Chris Brown.
Cal first came into the game in 2011 when he dropped the single, "Best Foot Forward." Speed up to 2012, Cal released his mixtape, Boy Genius, and in 2013 released the mixtape, Scrubby. Both made a big splash and caught the attention of artists like Brown and many others. Now, 4 years into rapping, Cal has just released his debut EP, House in the Hills. The EP has features from Trevor Jackson, Sevyn Streeter and of course, Brown.
The visual for "Ain't Sh*t Change" was directed by Andrew Sandler and has a White Men Can't Jump theme to it. This track is probably the first of many to come from Cal and Brown. They have an upcoming track coming out for Brown's documentary, Welcome to My Life. Cal spoke to Billboard about the track, "We recorded it a couple of months ago with Chris on the hook," he states. "It's a song about reflection and moving forward."
According to the interview with Billboard, Cal mentioned that he will be releasing a new mixtape in January but is keeping most of the information on it to himself.
We are looking forward to hearing more music from Cal. He has definitely made quite the impression with his debut album and his two previous mixtapes. For a college grad and an up and coming rapper, he isn't doing too bad for himself.
