Chance The Rapper has teamed up with Warmest Winter to raise money that will make coats for the homeless in his native hometown of Chicago. Within ten days, Chance and Warmest Winter raised over $60,000.
The Empowerment plan hires homeless people to help make the coats and their site states, "Our studies show that for each 1,000 coats distributed, we can save 14 lives." The company is hoping to have the 1,000 coats done by Jan. 13.
By donating on the site, you enter a chance to win tickets to a Chicago Bulls or White Sox game. If you donate $100, you enter to win two tickets to see Chance perform live in 2016.
Though his third mixtape did not drop on Christmas, Chance has still been in a giving mood. Chance and the Warmest Winter will be working with the Detroit-based, non-profit company, The Empowerment Plan, to use the money raised to make coats for the homeless. The company will be making about 1000 coats that double as sleeping bags.
While focusing on helping the homeless, Chance hasn't forgotten about his fans. He has been teasing the release of his upcoming mixtape during his recent performances. He even debuted his newest track, "Somewhere in Paradise," on Dec.12 on NBC's Saturday Night Live. The mixtape hasn't been left behind, just moved aside for charitable efforts.
