On Sunday June 22 at 9/8c, Brad Paisley will be headed to living rooms across the country as a judge on ABC's new summer singing competition, Rising Star, reports Deadline Hollywood. Two other judges are expected to be announced soon.
The show will follow a group of aspiring singers as they audition in front of a live audience. If viewers like the singer, they can vote through an app to determine if that singer will advance in the competition. Once (if) the voting reaches a certain point, the performer can see how the voting is going on a giant wall behind him/her, so the feedback is immediate.
Rising Star hit the Israeli airwaves last September and was a huge hit (49% of the market share). During MIPCOM, the annual entertainment and festival in Cannes, buyers from Germany, France, Russia, Scandinavia, Italy and the U.S. all bought rights to the hit show.
First level auditions for the debut season are closed and aspiring singers (and new fans) will have to wait until June to see who makes the first cuts.
