In what appears to be a fairly blunt tweet, former Oasis founding member Liam Gallagher has appeared to squash any rumors surrounding the possibility of a solo career or record. Gallagher split with his side project, Beady Eye, back in 2014, and while his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel has embraced his own solo career, recently releasing an LP titled Chasing Yesterday under the moniker Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Liam remains opposed. Rumors of an Oasis reunion tour are still ongoing.
Early this morning (January 4), Liam posted a NSFW, defensive message (possibly directed at brother Noel) to Twitter:
This was not the first message Liam posted to social media within the last day, a couple of which may have been in response to a tabloid article pertaining to him and current girlfriend Debbie Gwyther.
Last year, a source close to The Daily Star reported that Liam and brother Noel were in "serious talks" to reunite with former bandmates Andy Bell and Gem Archer for a few arena tour dates.
"Other bands have reunited and had a fantastic pay day so it makes sense for everyone involved," said the source. "It has been discussed seriously - it's only a matter of time. It is looking so certain it is worth betting on for next year."
While Noel or Liam Gallagher have neither personally denied or confirmed a possible Oasis reunion in the future, it doesn't seem like it will be happening in the near future, especially with Liam recently criticizing Noel for his decision to allow the use of the song "Half The World Away" for a Christmas advertisement.
While rumors continue to churn regarding an Oasis reunion, especially with a documentary project currently in the works (curated by the creators of the Amy Winehouse documentary), constant discord such as this could only delay fans from hearing classic songs like (What's the Story) Morning Glory?'s "Wonderwall" being performed live. Noel and Liam have shown they have had a rocky relationship from the start.
