Welcome to 2016 and say hello to one of the stranger stories of the year so far. The Prodigy's Keith Flint is now embroiled in a rather odd controversy involving the hacktivist group Anonymous and fox hunting, a banned activity in England.
On Friday, a report emerged by the Daily Mail on Friday that Flint had taken up fox hunting as his new activity of choice. Widely regarded as an activity of the elite and old aristocracy, not to mention banned, it seemed odd that someone who has fought against the establishment all of his career would join in something like that.
According to the paper source, Flint "keeps his horses with one of the bigwigs on the local Essex hunt, who lives just up the road from the pub [that Flint owns]. His enthusiasm for the sport is the talk of Essex hunting circles."
This sparked an outcry from The Prodigy fans and hacktivist Anonymous, who take offence to his "fetish for murdering animals" and "rubbing shoulders with Tory criminals."
In a new video uploaded online, the masked figure says that this is just a warning to Flint.
"We once had a great deal of respect for you, we admired your art, your rage and your vision and your haircut," the person admits, "but now, Anonymous have targeted you with the message because you disgrace what we stand for."
"Some of the tribal chants that were used in the music made by the Prodigy were ancient chants used by spiral tribes to create harmony among all living creatures," continued the speaker. "The tribes gave the Prodigy permission to use these chant for free, and this is how Keith repays them, by killing animals for sport."
In one final message to the dance legend, the masked man warns, "You still have a chance to change your ways Keith. One year should do it."
The band issued a message on their Facebook page on the behalf of Flint, admitting that he did go out on a local trail hunt, but "no animals were hunted or killed."
Message from Keef Flint: 'In regards to a story going around about me right now - yes I live in essex and have a couple...
