Last year was clearly an eventful one for Trey Songz. He just shared a video for "Blessed" and reflected on 2015.
The four-minute clip kicks off with the Virginia singer getting emotional during a video call with a family member. The black-and-white video, directed by Mel D. Cole, then offers up a glimpse of Songz’s life over the past year. Songz’s latest visual features clips from his time spent in London and Dubai as well as cameos from music executive Kevin Liles and Timbaland.
“Now tell me God, how can you love me after all this sex? / How can you love me after all these drugs? / How can I be the one to feel so blessed?,” Songz asks on the chorus.
“Blessed” was originally featured on Song’z Thanksgiving mixtape To Whom It May Concern and while his latest offering finds the singer questioning his favor, he recently landed himself on Pastor and gospel singer Donnie McClurkin's prayer list.
"Flew in together from Nigeria with one of the greatest young men @treysongz go bless him," McClurkin shared on Instagram. "It was a pleasure meeting you, young man! Love you and praying for you!"
As noted by Rap-Up, Songz has been in the studio working on the follow-up to his 2014 album Trigga. Last June, he released Trigga: Reloaded, an updated version of the album. The project features previously released tracks including "Foreign," "Na Na" and "Touchin, Lovin" featuring Nicki Minaj.
Trigga: Reloaded served as Songz's seventh studio album since emerging on the scene nearly 10 years ago. He first received notoriety following the release of "Open the Closet," a song made in response to R. Kelly's never-ending "Trapped in the Closet" series.
In April 2015, he released an EP entitled Intermission, along with a short documentary.
