Dr. Dre's lawsuit against Death Row Records thrown out; nothing like an Apple deal to fix that

Dr. Dre's multimillion dollar lawsuit against Death Row Records has been thrown out by a judge. The rapper and producer was seeking $3.05 million he claimed he was owed by the now bankrupt Death Row Records.

Dre claimed that he should be paid off before Death Row's other creditors since the money he was seeking was "earned" during the label's bankruptcy period. The totals include $1.2 million for unpaid artist and producer royalties, $1.2 million for digital sales and $676,000 for mechanical royalties (fees owed for selling the original recording of a track, versus the final version).

Details are sketchy as to why the lawsuit was tossed out, but bigger things have come along for the rapper in recent days. He may not have even heard about this lawsuit getting thrown out, based on its relatively small payload. Dre has made much of his money in recent years from his role as CEO of the Beats Audio company, which has recently been sold to Apple if reports are to be believed. The deal was valued at $3.2 billion according to reports. Although nothing is official as of yet, the rapper took to the internet with his pal Tyrese to boast about being "hip-hop's first billionaire."

Again, Forbes has responded indicating that the deal would actually move Dre to around a net worth of $800 million, but that sounds okay to us. Death Row can take a sigh of relief, as at least one of the guys looking for money will be distracted for a while.
