Damon Albarn releases video for 'Mr. Tembo,' featuring baby elephant [WATCH]

Damon Albarn released his excellent debut solo album Everyday Robots last month, and now he's shared a video for his heartwarming track "Mr. Tembo." The song pays tribute to an orphaned baby elephant that he met in in Mkomazi, Tanzania while traveling in Africa.

In the video, Albarn gathers in London's Pentecostal City Mission Church Choir to perform the track while a vintage television plays with footage of Mr. Tembo. Cartoon images are interwoven into the video, showing Mr. Tembo's habitat being overrun by humans.

Back in January, Albarn spoke with Rolling Stone about the song, which he had originally never considered for the album. "[The baby elepant] was recently orphaned and walked onto this aerodrome; the people I know took it in and called it Mr. Tembo," he said. "I was there, and I met this little elephant, and he was very sweet. I sang it to him. It was recorded on a phone, and in a light-hearted moment, I put it on a list for Richard [Russell, producer]."

When asked whether the elephant was a fan of the song Albarn says he isn't quite sure. "To be honest to you, when I sang it to the elephant, it shat itself," he said. "Because it was on milk, it was white elephant baby poo, if you can imagine that. It's quite something at close vicinity."
