Courtney Barnett has revealed a few new tour dates as well as shared a brand new, killer, '60s-esque ode to ramen noodles, "Three Packs a Day" in preparation for its release as part of an upcoming compilation.
The up-and-down flowing acoustic jam tells the story of Barnett's cigarette and ramen addiction, but the vocals and instrumentals are so well done that it's hard not to get hooked on first listen. As a songwriter, Barnett continues to impress a worldwide audience with her knack for lyrical flow and rocking instrumentals. The acclaim led to her recent Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, even though she has no idea who her fellow nominees Meghan Trainor and James Bay are.
The Melbourne singer released her highly-celebrated album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit early last year, and the new song seems to take cues from that record, sounding a bit like its opening track "Elevator Operator" while slowing it all down with some "Depreston" influence.
The song will appear on her Australian label Milk! Records' upcoming Good For You compilation, which is due out on Feb. 14. The compilation also features tracks by Jen Cloher, The Finks, Fraser A. Gorman, The East Brunswick All Girls Choir, and Ouch My Face.
Barnett is planning on touring the U.S. for a big chunk of 2016, from April through June, surrounding a few festival appearances such as New York City's Governor's Ball, as well as Indio's Coachella Music & Arts Festival. You can check out all of her currently scheduled tour dates below.
