Barack Obama wasn't the only one performing in D.C. on Tuesday night; Matt Berninger and Brent Knopf of the band EL VY and Wale gave short performances at The White House shortly before the president delivered his final State of the Union Address.
The performances were part of a live stream hype party hosted by the White House and BET's Terrance J to get a live audience and those watching at home pumped for the president's address, which was a well articulated speech but ultimately pretty similar to past ones.
EL VY performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert the night prior playing the band's own song, "Return To The Moon," as well as a tribute to David Bowie with a cover of "Let's Dance," in which Berninger gave his most upbeat performance ever, dancing like fans have never seen before.
That appearance was suppose to cap off the band's tour but EL VY was kind enough to extend it an extra day by performing three songs and making a goofy video backstage in the Eisenhower room in which they eat bagged pop corn and play with a fake bonsai tree.

Where as EL VY had to apologize for playing such downer songs throughout its set, Wale was markedly more energetic as he got the crowd on its feet and hyped for that presidential address. Wale also found time to hang with Joe Biden and snag a selfie with the second lady, Jill Biden.
The performance marks Wale's third time at the White House as he mentions during his performance, in which he performed the Obama requested track, "Love Hate Thing," his Lady Gaga collaboration, "Chillin," and a track off his latest record, The Album About Nothing, titled "White Shoes."
Watch the full live stream below. EL VY begins around the 23-minute mark and Wale takes the stage around 48 minutes in.
