Paul McCartney Cancels Japan Tour

Out There No More...

No, it's not the daunting fear of being flattened by Godzilla that's keeping Sir Paul McCartney out of Japan... though the monster did crush it this weekend, taking the number 1 spot in the box office.

Unfortunately, McCartney has reportedly cancelled his entire Japan tour due to an illness. The famed Beatle, 71, had numerous dates scheduled but his people are now claiming that he isn't well enough to perform. His doctors are calling for "complete rest."

McCartney's illness comes as bad news to all his fans (and probably him too) considering it includes the cancellation of the highly anticipated show at Nippon Budokan Hall, a venue where The Beatles performed during their first Japan tour back in 1966.

Tickets for the cancelled shows are being refunded, with the priciest costing upwards of 100,000 yen each. Or, $1,000.

McCartney recently made a statement about the cancellation, saying, "I'd like to thank my Japanese fans for their love, messages of support and understanding. I hope to see you all again soon. Love, Paul."

While fans in Japan appear to be out of luck, McCartney's dates in Seoul on May 28 at the Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium, as well as his 19 US performances, are still on schedule. Sorry, Japan...

I guess Japanese fans will have to wait to see Sir Paul's recent single "Appreciate" live. For now, there's always YouTube.

Whether or not Newman the robot will be joining McCartney on tour once he's recovered is undetermined. But I'm assuming no.
