Justin Bieber: Sorry
Justin Bieber: second straight week
"Sorry" comes in at No. 1 on the charts again, Billboard reports, largely on the strength of its streaming. The single tops the Streaming Songs chart for the fifth week with 20.5 million plays. Of course, no song can come out at No. 1 just from YouTube and Spotify plays. "Sorry" also was the second-most heard song on radio with 148 million audience impressions and sold a decent 92,000 digital downloads.
Bieber, in general, is having another great week in the top 10. For yet another week, he has three songs in the top 10. His non-single Purpose track "Love Yourself" holds for a fourth week at No. 3 and is only gaining momentum. The Ed Sheeran-penned acoustic track topped downloads with 147,000 copies sold and was the second-most streamed song with 17 million plays. The only area in which "Love Yourself" stumbles (a bit) is radio, where it was the sixth-most played song with 100 million audience impressions. However, the song rose 35 percent this week in airplay, indicating it may be a third No. 1 for Bieber sometime in the future.
His third song in the top 10 is his lead Purpose single (and his first-ever No. 1 track), "What Do You Mean," which stumbled two places this week to land at No. 10.
Of course, Bieber isn't the only artist on the Hot 100 this week, no matter if it feels like it. Adele's 10-week No. 1 single "Hello" maintained its No. 2 position this week for a second week. "Hello" moved 92,000 downloads this week and slipped just ever so slightly in streams, notching in at No. 3 on that chart.
While Bieber and Adele have dominated the top three spots on the Hot 100 for a month now, newcomers Twenty One Pilots aren't far behind with their breakout hit "Stressed Out." With a 5 percent increase in sales to 121,000 downloads sold and major rises on radio and streaming, the Ohio alt-rockers rose to No. 4 this week, a new high.
And, Bieber's potential "Sorry" inspiration Selena Gomez also rose into the top five this week with "Same Old Love," the song's highest point thus far.
As Gomez rises, so does another fellow pop act. Alessia Cara's debut single "Here" vaulted up three spots this week to reach a new Hot 100 high at No. 6. She bested fellow R&B-inspired artist Drake. His multi-week No. 2 single "Hotline Bling" is stumbling down the charts, moving down three spots to No. 7 this week.
Ahead of Bieber's final top 10 entry, Shawn Mendes' "Stitches" and Meghan Trainor's "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" round out the top 10 of the Hot 100 at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.
