Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has posted a photo of himself in front of a microphone in the studio via his personal Instagram, which could very well hint that new music by the massively successful pop-punk outfit is in progress.
The photo is captioned stating "January 2016" which could possibly mark the trio's first visit to the studio this year to begin recording a new album, following their monumental 2015 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
If the band is indeed working on a new album, the new material would serve as a follow-up to 2012's Uno!, Dos!, Tré! series, but that wasn't the band's latest music. Just last month, Green Day released a rocking new Christmas song titled "Xmas Time of the Year," while wishing their fans happy holidays.
According to NME, the band's long-time producer Rob Cavallo had stated in April of last year that the band had previously returned to the studio and had successfully recorded five new tracks. "Let me tell you, they were just fantastic. He is absolutely at the top of his game," Cavallo commented in reference to Armstrong. "Fans can be sure that when they do return, the music will be amazing."
To help celebrate the band's influential career, their new documentary titled Heart Like a Hand Grenade, premiered in U.S. theatres on Oct. 15 and is currently available for your viewing pleasure via Vimeo on Demand.
