Bobby Shmurda can't seem to win! The rapper's bail has yet again been denied and it seems like this is the path he will continue to go down. Bobby has been in jail since December 2014 for gun and drug charges. Since being arrested, his bail has been denied seven times.
Bobby has changed lawyers twice and is now on his third, Alex Spiro. Spiro has been working to get Bobby out and even worked with Bobby's family to name their property as a collateral to bail him out. But that was also denied, according to Complex. During this week's court hearing, Spiro made a statement: "Everyone keeps reporting the bail has been denied, five, six, seven times, and I don't care if we have to do it 50 times because at some point the truth and what's right will come about."
According to Fader, New York City Judge Abraham Clott stated that he sees "no substantive change" in Bobby and that there is no reason to lower the bail. HipHopDX reports that Spiro explained to the judge that the $2 million bail set for Bobby is incorrect since Bobby doesn't make the $20 million originally reported. Spiro asks that the bail be brought down to match the actual $427K Bobby does make. The proof of the $427K comes from a tax return provided by Sony, who houses Epic Records. As most know, Bobby is signed to Epic Records, but they have not had much to say on the case since he was arrested.
Bobby is due back in court in February 22nd for trial for charges brought against him when his girlfriend attempted to sneak in a knife to him in July. These charges could add seven more years to Bobby's time behind bars. He is already facing 25 years for the initial charges.
