AlunaGeorge, the English electronic hip-hop pop duo made up of Aluna Francis and George Reid, have shared a new song titled "I'm In Control." Featuring guest vocals by Popcaan, the track is the first single from the outfit's forthcoming full-length album, I Remember.
"I'm In Control" sees the duo infusing their futuristic club and minimalist R&B stylings with tropical house elements. Francis' whimsical vocals weave together the synths while Popcaan's vocals lend the track a dancehall vibe.
The track premiered on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show Tuesday afternoon and is available to stream via the duo's Soundcloud. Listen below.
Francis confirmed the new album's title in an interview with Annie Mac following the track's premier. I Remember is due out sometime this spring via Interscope in the US and Island in the UK.
The duo have teased that their sophomore full-length release will feature production from Flume and Zhu. They have also revealed that listeners can look forward to more live instrumentation on I Remember than on Body Music, Pitchfork reports.
I Remember follows the duo's 2013 debut, Body Music, which featured cuts like "You Know You Like It" and "Attracting Flies" which have seen their share of high-profile remixes and have permeated countless DJs' setlists over the past few years. Since Body Music dropped, AlunaGeorge have collaborated with artists like Diplo and Skrillex under their Jack U moniker, Baauer, DJ Snake, Disclosure and Zhu just to name a few.
The steady flow of collaborations has made the time fly between albums, but as Stereogum points out, the duo have only shared one AlunaGeorge original since releasing Body Music. In 2014 they shared the hard-edged track "Supernatural," but have remained relatively quiet ever since.
While there is no word as of yet regarding whether or not the duo will tour in support of their new album, AlunaGeorge are scheduled to perform at Coachella in April and Shaky Beats Festival in May. The duo are also performing at Bassnectar's first-ever multi-day camping festival, Bass Center, in July.
