If you've been keeping up with each new season 8 episode of Bravo's Real Housewives Of Atlanta, then you are well aware that most of the season was filmed without the queen herself, Nene Leakes. Recently, Leakes reemerged on the show in what's being classified as guest appearances and now the powers that be are rumored to be forcing her to stay for good. If she doesn't choose to stay, she may run the risk of being booted from Fashion Police.
Two weeks ago, the Broadway star returned to her roots and rejoined the rest of the cast of RHOA in a special guest appearance. According to Rolling Out, Leakes' appearance on the show gave the Atlanta reality series a big boost in ratings, which is what they needed due to a reported downward spiral in since her departure.
Although the show and current cast members still pack much drama into each hour-long episode, the spice of Leakes seemed to be missing-so much so that she's reportedly being backed into a corner to return to RHOA on a permanent basis. Rolling Out reported that Bravo executives and NBC Universal, which is Bravo's parent company, want Leakes to sign a contract committing to returning to the show next season on a full-time basis.
Leakes however believes that she and her brand have outgrown reality TV as a whole and she reportedly doesn't want to sign back on with the show. According to a Rolling Out source, Leakes believes that she has achieved great success with her stint on Broadway's Cinderella and Chicago, she has her own successful clothing line, and has landed a great gig as a co-host on the revamped Fashion Police - she doesn't need RHOA.
But that gig on Fashion Police could be pulled if she doesn't reconsider coming back full-time to the Sunday night Bravo show. An ultimatum has been given according to Rolling Out: "sign back on with RHOA or lose your spot on the revamped Fashion Police," reported the site.
Leakes shared a teaser of her return to the show on her Instagram with simple hashtag phrases like "#sheback" and "#queen."
Leakes explained on her Bravo Blog that she has been so happy since leaving the show and focusing on other endeavors. "Since leaving the show I have been so focused on my happiness -- just getting back to me," Leakes explained on the Bravo blog. "Doing the things that I love and being around the people that love me."
Leakes has not responded to returning to the show on a full time basis but, she has managed to mend old broken friendships with costar Cynthia Bailey, and is starting off on a good note.
"...I felt like I was in a really good place in my life where I could start over with Cynthia and reconnect," Leakes explained. "I'm happy I did!"
