This past weekend, the East Coast was hit with some near record or record breaking snow fall numbers up and down the seaboard. Venues were shut down Friday and Saturday, leaving fans and artists stranded there for the weekend without any way of getting out. One such man a little disappointed with his circumstances was Australian singer, songwriter and producer Chet Faker who was in New York City and generally unimpressed that the city essentially shut down due to the blizzard. As a result he turned his anguish into inspiration with a snow storm Jonas-inspired track "In-Between."
The track samples the infamous 2015 speech by New York City mayor Bill de Blasio ahead of what was supposed to be "Snowmagedon 2015." In fact the storm largely missed the city and instead dumped several feet of snow on Boston.
The tune he put together is a soothing instrumental, bringing in some jazz influences, hazy drum patterns and dreamy guitar licks. It has the workings of a track by someone trapped inside of a hotel room with cabin fever, combining repetitive rhythms and hypnotic melodies.
Faker fans will be delighted to hear that this track is being offered up as a free download.
Being in New York City, the Australian thought that he would be able to get some pizza no matter what. He probably could have in the right neighborhoods, but he still was unimpressed with the restaurants staying open through the storm.
