As previously reported, Paul McCartney was hospitalized for a viral infection following the cancellation of the entire Asian leg of his Out There tour. A statement from McCartney's camp (via Radio.com) further explains the former Beatle's current condition.
Since contracting a virus last week that led to the postponement of tour dates, Paul received successful medical treatment at a hospital in Tokyo," it reads. "He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days to rest. Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world."
McCartney issued his own statements to both his Japanese and Korean fans earlier this week. He said he was disappointed to be missing the shows and letting his fans down but was grateful for their support.
McCartney had been scheduled to play in Japan and South Korea through the end of May. He is expected to begin a US tour starting June 14 in Lubbock, Texas; however, there have been no reports updating the status of the tour following his illness.
We will update you if new information becomes available regarding those shows.
