Solange's Digital Sales Up, Jay Z and Beyoncé's Ticket Sales Down Following Elevator Altercation

Following the infamous elevator footage that rocked the Internet earlier this month, Jay Z, Beyoncé and Solange have been working to clear their names in the public eye. They've released statements explaining and apologizing for the incident. However, the confrontation has impacted the family's sales for better and worse.

According to HipHopDX, Solange's digital sales saw a major increase after the event. Nielsen SoundScan data ending the week of May 18, 2014 shows that singer's sales were at 2,000 for the week, up from the prior week's total track sales of 600.

HipHopDX notes that the spike was likely caused by Solange making headlines following the footage leak.

Jay Z and Beyoncé, however, did not benefit from the bad press, TiqIQ reports (via Forbes). Since the video leak, the average price for the a Beyoncé/Jay Z coheadlining ticket dropped 13.5 percent on the secondary market. Before the video was released, the average price across all "On The Run" tour dates was $306.22, but now the average price has dropped to $264.73.

With more than a month remaining before the tour kicks off, there is still plenty of time for all of this to blow over and ticket sales to pick up again.
