In what had been a great year for feline music, Run The Jewels continue to push the 2015 cat-themed reimagining of their 2014 critically acclaimed LP Run The Jewels 2. Filled with cat sounds, Meow The Jewels became treasure for fans and has spawned some very interesting music videos along the way. The new one for "Meowpurrdy" appears to have done the impossible - make a cat video disturbing.
The video features various animated cats as they twist and form into new cats and fly across the screen in various sizes and speeds. The graphics are top notch and might make you think twice about clicking on just any other cat video on the internet, though you may need to rinse out your mind with a few of their other cuter videos.
It ends up with a giant cat angel who fights a beast from hell and wins after breaking it up into a whole bunch of smaller cats.
"Meowpurrdy" features the vocals of Lil Bub and additional work from Maceo and Delonte. The video is directed by Cyriak, who is known for his left-field and at times a bit disturbing visuals.
Though Killer Mike and El-P have not released much music recently, they have remained in the news for causes outside of music. Killer Mike has been an ardent and vocal supporter of Bernie Sanders, appearing on talk shows on his behalf and hosted the democratic presidential candidate in Mike's Atlanta barber shop for a chat on the issues.
The pair are working on their highly anticipated Run The Jewels 3, which is expected out at some point this year via Mass Appeal Records.
